Nature

Nature Montessori

Dr. Maria Montessori would agree with our drive to get our children outdoors as she placed a great emphasis on nature and nature education.  She also felt that the outdoor environment should be an extension of the classroom.

“There must be provision for the child to have contact with nature; to understand and appreciate the order, the harmony and the beauty in nature”

Dr. Maria Montessori

Our nature school is an inspirational process that offers children daily opportunities to achieve and develop confidence through hands-on learning in a natural environment.  It allows children to explore nature by observing and learning about birds, insects and animals as well as planting, nurturing and harvesting living things (i.e. flower and vegetable gardens), while learning about and experiencing weather and its effects on nature and our environment.

The natural playground including balance beams, stepping logs, rope ladders, a friendship swing, climbing trees, playing with mud and water and much much more, encourages both gross and fine motor skills, collaborative play, risk assessment, problem solving and spatial awareness while allowing creativity to flourish.

Our programme allows children to grow in self esteem, independence and confidence in their own capabilities.  They are encouraged to develop their innate curiosity and thus develop the motivation to learn.
